How beautiful is our State Capitol? The Wisconsin State Capitol is widely considered one of the most beautiful and architecturally significant in the United States! It is renowned for its unique x-shaped design, stunning interior craftsmanship, and for having the only granite dome in the nation (the largest granite dome in the world).

Even more important is WHAT OUR STUDENTS LEARN when visiting, especially after studying about Wisconsin history, and the workings of the three branches of state government!

Last Friday our Father Allouez Catholic School 4th Grade Class took a fascinating Field Trip to the Wisconsin State Capitol in Madison. It was an exciting, educational visit! They spent time exploring the beautiful building, including the Observation Deck, before enjoying a guided tour filled with the history of our state. Seeing first-hand the chambers and halls where our three branches of government work was an amazing experience. Along the way, students even discovered fossils hidden throughout the Capitolโ€”turning the trip into a fun, unexpected science adventure as well. It was a memorable day of learning and discovery for everyone! ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ›๏ธ๐Ÿ‘จโ€โš–๏ธ๐Ÿ’ผ๐Ÿฆ…๐ŸŒŸ #civicpride #statecapitollessons #WeAreGRACEgb

(And for you architectural buffs: Ours is the only state capitol built on an isthmus, positioned between two beautiful lakes: Mendota and Monona. The lavish interior features 43 types of stone from six countries and eight states, along with intricate mosaics, murals, and glasswork. A state law prevents any surrounding building from exceeding the height of the capitol, ensuring it remains the focal point of the Madison skyline.)
