Studying Wisconsin History

Fourth Grade is a special time to dig a bit deeper into the rich history surrounding us here in Wisconsin, beginning with the Indigenous People. Our Father Allouez Catholic School students discovered that what we see as streams, rivers, and lakes often served as water highways, and early people’s movement often involved portaging between waterways! As part of their Social Studies learning, our 4th Graders recently created birch bark canoes, coming to appreciate this practical, versatile, lightweight form of transportation.
