Friday Spotlight- Preschool

3k and 4k Preschool options at Father Allouez Catholic School

In the preschool program at Father Allouez Catholic School, we provide both 3k and 4k programs.  In each program we foster the growth of social and cognitive development, faith development, emergent literacy, motor development and more. Our preschool program also focuses on environmental awareness, helping students acquire an early love for nature with our nature based learning days. Age-appropriate faith integration occurs weekly, and, through the celebration of liturgical holidays.

Your child’s first school experience in PK3: The PK3 curriculum is built off of play-based learning while exploring concepts such as: routines, social skills, following directions, fine and gross motor skills, name recognition and early math skills.

Continuing their growth in PK4: The PK4 curriculum is also built off of play-based learning while building on concepts such as: routines, social skills, letter and number recognition, fine and gross motor skills, name recognition, and other kindergarten readiness skills.

Nature Based Learning Days: 4k students participate in our weekly nature-based morning, partnered with The Issac Walton League at Osprey Point. This has been a student favorite for many years. These days offer opportunities for children to connect with nature while developing children’s individual skills, abilities and interests. Spending time in nature improves children’s academic performance, focus, behavior and love of learning. 3k students will participate regularly.

We offer flexible enrollment options.

  • 2, 3 or 5 Half Days 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • 2, 3 or 5 Full days  8 a.m. to 3 p.m

You can choose the days of the week that meet your scheduling needs, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Father Allouez Middle Days Electives Program

Besides being the traditional “middle day” of the week, Wednesdays are fun days for Father Allouez Catholic School’s middle grade students. In a unique elective program occurring each Wednesday for the past three years at Father Allouez, students in grades five through eight set aside their daily schedule of core content classes and participate in elective classes. These courses are designed to boost students’ growth, academic success and future planning. The elective classes enable the middle schoolers the opportunity to explore their interests, develop a wide range of skills and build confidence. These Wednesday experiences may have a lasting impact on their educational journey and overall development.

Needless to say, many students claim that this is their favorite day of the week. Quinn, a current middle school student shares, “I really like having an elective day because it gives us a break from the regular school schedule while we still get to learn about more topics that we usually wouldn’t be able to learn about. One of my favorite electives is cooking class. I like that one the most because it’s so different from what I usually learn, but so fun at the same time.”

Students can choose four classes each trimester and the classes change from one trimester to the next. Some of the courses that have been offered are:

Middle school is a crucial time for students to explore their interests and discover their passions. Elective classes can help students discover their strengths and guide their career choices. The offerings are a diverse range of subjects from the arts, technology, religion, literature, theater, life skills, math and science. This allows students to choose subjects that align with their learning styles and interests, making learning more engaging and relevant.

One student, Aubrey, relates her excitement about the program, “I love elective day because you get to choose a class you are interested in. It is so much fun! I especially love musicals because I love to perform.”

Electives help develop a student’s social competencies because the class brings together students with similar interests and can help form friendships with those in other grade levels. Success in these classes can also boost self-esteem and confidence.

Father Allouez Catholic School will indeed continue to offer elective classes for the middle school students. These classes provide a well-rounded education that includes not only core academic subjects but also opportunities for personal growth and development that nurtures students’ physical, emotional, social and cognitive developments.

Sr. Pat Parent speaker ad

Free Parent Event Featuring International Speaker

Please join us for an engaging and informative presentation on “Raising Resilient and Self-Reliant Children” with International Formation and Education Consultant, Sister Pat McCormack, IHM, EDD.

A self-reliant, resilient character is the by-product of daily life practices that nurture security, autonomy, initiative, and industry. When parents apply these practices with consistency, repetition, and continuity, positive identity formation takes root in the child. Over time resilience, self-reliance, and positive self-esteem evolve as byproducts.

This presentation will “unpack” these elements and communicate practical advice, gathered from parents of children in grades K-12 who were recognized for positive self-esteem and character.

This adult event is free of charge and will take place on Monday, January 15, at 6 p.m. at the St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in the Cathedral Center. The Center is located in the main Church building. Parking in the lot will be available. When you enter, please proceed up the stairs or elevator and the center is straight across. Wine and cheese will be served. All are welcome!

2023 Advent Season

The Advent season begins on Sunday

Advent is a time of anticipation and preparation, and what better way to engage in this spiritual journey than by delving into the rich teachings of the bible?

At Home

This year your child(ren) will bring home an Advent Calendar based on the Gospel Values and Scripture passages to deepen our understanding of the true meaning of Christmas and to foster a sense of unity and reflection. Every other day a new Gospel value will be highlighted on the Advent calendar tree. Find the matching Scripture passage and take a moment to read and reflect on the passage as a family. This can be a beautiful opportunity for meaningful conversations and shared reflections. Use the Christmas magnet to hang the tree and scripture passage on your refrigerator as a reminder of the coming gift of Christmas.

In the Classroom

Each grade will be having age appropriate, in depth discussions about the Advent wreath, the four candles, and their meaning. The candles represent Jesus coming as the light in darkness. One candle is lit each Sunday until all four candles are lit. Each day of Advent, students at the Resurrection Campus will read a Bible story about someone on Jesus’s family tree and hang an ornament symbolizing the story on their Jesse Tree. At the St. Matthew Campus each classroom will be working on Acts of Christmas Kindness. They will make a class paper chain mobile with their acts of kindness, guided by hope, peace, joy and love.

We would love for you to share about your family Advent activities at home! You can post a story or picture in the comment section on our Facebook post!

Girls and Boys Basketball

Middle school girls and boys basketball season begins.

Our middle school basketball season is underway! All of the girls and boys teams have been practicing hard and preparing for a great season!

To kick off the season the 5th through 8th grade teams played in the 6th Annual Tip Off event! The crowd-favorite games of the evening featured moms facing off against the 8th-grade girls, and dads taking on the 8th-grade boys! Take a look at some of the standout moments below.

The 7th grade girls had their first game of the season against the St. Bernard Bears. After the game Coach Andy was proud of all the girls, he said “they have never beat this team before in the four years they have played them.” Lucy, one of the players, said “In practice we have been working on new plays and defense”. She said that the team has a strong bond this year and was all smiles when talking about the game, her teammates and the coaches. Photos from the game can be found below.

The 7th and 8th grade boys team also had their first game against the St. Bernard Bears. Before the game Coach Jeremy said “This year will be a unique year.” He explained that they will be playing a few new teams and playing some teams they haven’t seen in a few years. He has been coaching this group since they were in 3rd grade and is excited for their 8th grade season. Photos from the game can be found below.

Good luck to all of our teams this season! May this season overflow with hard work, perseverance, great  memories, teamwork and victories.

We invite you to join us for a game this season and show your support for any of our FACS Wolves teams! You can find the schedules for all of our basketball teams in the FACS Weekly Newsletter sent out every Wednesday. (The 5th and 6th-grade schedule will be available shortly!)  Go Wolves!
